Tim and Emily have been active most of their lives. While Emily was a collegiate swimmer, Tim found plenty of activities to stay active during his college years as well including cycling and running. Their accomplishments are no small feat, including finishing the Chattanooga Ironman 70.3 in the spring of 2015! They can be seen participating in many local events with the double stroller in tow. Outside of events, many people know them as Drs. Tim and Emily. Their "real" job is at Bandeen Orthodontics where they run their own practice and make beautiful smiles.
While Charles has been active most of his life, Nikki discovered running later in life. Both are members of the WSI/Team Active Cycling Team. In addition, Nikki runs the Battle Creek chapter of Moms Run This Town, and has played an active role with Kalamazoo Area Runners in Battle Creek as well as coaching Girls on the Run. You will most likely see Nikki at local running events either running or with a cowbell in hand, although she is also loving the triathlon world. Charles can be seen riding all around town, from the roads to the trails, cycling is his preferred sport. Charles has also found a new love for endurance racing and completed his first full Ironman in 2016.
Cereal City Athletics was founded by Tim and Emily Bandeen along with Charles and Nikki Elder. It started as a discussion about local events among friends and evolved into so much more! We are busy families juggling school, work and kids activities, just like we know many of you are! Combined, we have 8 kids and want them to grow up learning the benefits of being active and see it as fun. That is what inspires us to do what we do. We have done some big events, but it’s the little things that we do each week which are cumulatively more important. Events in our hometown of Battle Creek are the ones that really matter because that is where we connect with our friends, family and community. We love Battle Creek and Southwest Michigan and are excited to be bringing some exciting new events to our community!
